- Casa Mihuacan is a two story addition to a traditional multifamily Mexican house. Its new volume bridges across the existing house allowing for its front to face Volcan Popocatepetl and Volcan Iztaccihuatl. The views towards the Volcanoes are strategically framed with four cartouches constantly revealing and transporting you to the magical near by environment. The back of the house opens up with floor to ceiling glass panels allowing for views into the existing communal courtyard and Volcan Malintzin in the distance.
The addition will house the newly added family. The first floor will hold sleeping and an open common room allowing for save passage between the old and new family. The second floor will hold the private quarters, portals to another world, and access to a dry garden with exotic desert plants.
